"Wrong DVD Region Code" message displayed

Disc players and DVDs are created for playback within specified areas—typically the areas of the world in which they were purchased. This message appears if your system identifies a disc with as having a region code different than that of the built-in disc player. To resolve this, try the following:

Be sure the region code of the DVD discs being played match the system's region code.

If the DVD region code of the disc is different than the system, the disc will not play. The DVD region code is located on the back of the DVD packaging. Look for one of these logos:



DVD players and discs produced by major manufacturers are coded to one of six regions. The list below indicates countries by region code number.

1. Canada and United States
2. European countries, United Kindgom, Japan, and United Arab Emirates
3. Hong Kong, Phillipines, Singapore, and Taiwan
4. Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Central and South American countries
5. India
6. Mainland China
