Insert mode - loud hum or feedback

If you are experiencing a loud hum or feedback when using the insert mode, please see the following steps:

Make sure the channel insert functionality is set up and enabled correctly:

Before you begin:
  • To prevent pops and feedback, we recommend making all your connections before powering on your system and then the wireless transmitter
  • It's important to use a proper insert cable, with a single ¼" TRS connector on one end, and two ¼" TS connectors on the other end
  • Do not connect an instrument or other audio source with a standard ¼" cable when a wireless transmitter is connected, as audio will not play from either the wired or wireless source

After you have made your connections, powered on your system and the wireless transmitter:

  1. Press and hold the channel control for either Channel 1 or 2 until the additional controls menu appears on the channel display.
  2. Rotate the channel control to highlight "Insert," then press the channel control to select it.
  3. Rotate the channel control to highlight your preferred setting, then press to select it:
    • Auto (default): When a wireless transmitter is powered on and connected to this channel, the 1/4" (6.35 mm) TRS channel input is converted into a series effects loop
    • Off: When a transmitter is powered on and connected to this channel, the system ignores signals from the channel input
  4. Press and hold the channel control until the additional controls menu disappears.

Check the connection light to confirm whether the transmitter is connected to the system or not

The connection light is the closest to the MUTE button and should be solid blue. If the light is turned off, try pairing the transmitter to the channel again.

Make sure the Expanders setting for that channel is set to On, not Off

The Expanders setting determines whether the system reduces the volume of low-level background noise for a channel, such as noise caused by electrical feedback, radio frequency interference, or your environment. You can disable this feature for one or more channels if necessary for your setup scenario.
