Setting the Action button behavior

The Action button on your headset can be programmed to access the Google Assistant (Android devices only) or to change the amount of noise cancellation when pressed. This is helpful to quickly access the feature you use most.

Information for iOS users: As of December 7, 2021, Google will no longer support the Google Assistant as an integrated feature on your QC35 II headphones when connected to an Apple mobile device. To continue using a voice assistant as an integrated feature on your headphones, please pick another option in the Bose Connect app under Settings>Action Button. Google Assistant will continue to work as an integrated feature when your headphones are connected to Android devices.

The Action button, located on the back on the left earcup, is a programmable button that allows you to quickly and easily access Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant (Android only) or noise cancellation.

Note: The Google Assistant and Alexa are not available in all languages and countries.

  • Set the Action button for Amazon Alexa: With Alexa, you can ask to play music, hear the news, check weather, control smart home devices, and more. Alexa lives in the cloud and is always getting smarter, adding new capabilities that are delivered to your device automatically. Using Alexa on your headphones is simple — just press-and-ask, and Alexa will respond instantly.
  • Set the Action button for the Google Assistant on Android devices: The Google Assistant allows you to quickly enjoy entertainment, stay connected, get information, and manage your day—all without glancing at your phone. For more information on what the Google Assistant can do, visit: https://support.google.com/headphones.
  • Set the Action button to adjust noise cancellation: Noise cancellation reduces unwanted noise providing a clearer, more lifelike audio performance. You can quickly select from 3 levels of noise cancellation based on your listening preferences and environment.
Program the Action button
  1. Open the Bose Connect app and connect your headphones
  2. In the upper-right, tap the Settings icon
  3. Select Action button
  4. Select Noise Cancelling, Google Assistant (Android only) or Alexa. (Tip: To use Alexa, the Alexa app must be installed on your mobile device.)
